Halebeedu || Hoysaleshwara Temple || Indian Architecture || History || Sculpures

Halebidu, Hoysaleshwara Temple

Firstly why the name is Halebidu because of the attack from the Muslim king all the place was destroyed and; left as it was hence the name Halebidu.

I want to share some sculptures that I observed and got to their meaning through a guide and my view.

Here you can see trees where wine is stored and a small bird is drinking it, which tells us that drinking is good but should be limited like this small bird.

In this sculpture, you can see that a mischievous monkey is pulling a lady's clothes which shows that a man is like a monkey very mischievous when it comes to women his feeling towards to act as mischievous and it is normal to be flirting with girls.

As you can see here there is a sculpting of war where arrows are being shooted at the enemy due to his mantra the arrows are being multiplied while hitting the enemy. As we have all seen in the movies and serials.

The sculpture here describes the gathering of  Lord Brahma, Vishnu, and Maheshwara sitting on Nandi where Lord Brahma and Saraswati are sitting on Lotus. In the above sculpture, you can see the Makara which consists of different body parts of different animals. Head with a Crocodile and body of an Elephant and the tail of a Peacock.

Below is the close-up image of Makara.

Sculptures were destroyed due to the attack where it was the war scene battling on the horses.

This is the roof of the Halebeedu temple where there are representations of Indira, Ganesha, and Vishnu in the Kalki avatar.

These are the few features that I observed and got to know about our Indian architecture.
